A shared bikes system is being introduced for city’s commuters. The Hudson Bike Share will feature 250 “smart bikes” – complete with built-in locks, GPS and communications equipment – and 29 docking stations throughout the city. Even if a station is full, Hudson Bike Share members will have the ability to lock up at any available bike rack that is nearby or to lock the bike to itself and leave it next to the station. Users may ride anywhere within or outside of Hoboken during their rental. No resident will be more than a five minute walk from a bike station. Free and discounted memberships will be made available to residents of the Hoboken Housing Authority. Annual memberships include unlimited 45 minute rides for $95. Weekly and daily passes will also be available.
