We’ve all seen holiday musicals about London, New York City and the like. However, what about a musical set in our very own city of Hoboken?
The Garden Street Children’s Musical Theater Company will be presenting its fifth annual production of A Hoboken Tale on Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Hopes Stage, located at 301 Garden Street, which is about a mile and a half from your Rivington apartment.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids to see the production starring those eight to 15-years-old. The young performers have been rehearsing under the direction of Broadway veteran Lisa Capps whose credits include Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Growing Pains and more.
Written by Garden Street owner and local resident Dan McLoughlin, A Hoboken Tale is a holiday musical set in Hoboken that reminds us of the spirit of giving and supporting our community during the holidays and always.
Each year, the Garden Street Theater presents two musicals and competes at performing arts competitions. If your own child is an aspiring professional performer or is even just looking to make friends, have fun or explore a budding interest in drama, you can contact the theater at 201-683-9100 to get them started on the theater’s next production.
Plus, younger performers aged 4-7 can participate in the junior musical theater production series under the direction Mari Linder, Jackie Mercandetti and Erin Murray Quinlan.
