Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at These Irish Eateries Near Your Rivington Apartment

by admin

With Saint Patrick’s Day almost here on Friday, March 17, Rivington residents who want to celebrate with some authentic Irish food rather than just some typical green beer have lots of options in their Hoboken neighborhood.

Throughout the area, there are tons of Irish restaurants that will make your taste buds feel like you’re in Ireland – even if you don’t have a drop of Irish blood in you.

Carpe Diem, located at 1405 Grand Street in Hoboken which is only three blocks from your Rivington apartment, is a convivial haunt featuring Irish pub grub and a large beer list, plus a fireplace and outdoor seating. Established in 2006, this Irish restaurant offers a more upscale take on traditional Irish dishes.

Try their gruyere and mushroom burger, which features a medley of sautéed mushrooms smothered in gruyere or the Claire’s Fave Burger, which has melted gorgonzola cheese and tumbleweed onions. This corner bar and restaurant also has dishes of other cuisines, such as their chicken stiry-fry and rigatoni alla vodka, if you’re visiting with someone not so keen on Irish food!

McSwiggan’s Pub, located at 110 1st Street in Hoboken which is about a mile and a half from your Rivington apartment, is a classic Irish pub features burgers, brunch, sandwiches, entrees and all-you-can-eat specials.

A restaurant filled with deals every day of the week, they have $5 all-you-can-eat wings on Mondays starting at 9 p.m. as well as Miller Lite pitcher specials and live music. Check out their online calendar to see what else is happening at McSwiggan’s this week!

Celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day at The Rivington

by admin

While the Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl may have passed, officially St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t start until March 17th. With that being the case, there are still many fun holiday activities you can partake in to keep up the St. Patrick’s Day spirit! Whether you’re celebrating St. Pat’s at home, at a friend’s or at your favorite Irish pub, the aim of the day is have some good “craic” (Irish for fun).

There are all sorts of popular St. Patrick’s Day games and ideas to choose from for your St. Paddy’s Day bash. Get in the mood by decking out your apartment – add some shamrock and leprechaun cutouts, Irish flags and green streamers. Bring it up an authentic notch by making a festive centerpiece with Irish bells (to bring good luck) and white calla lilies (symbolizing beauty).

Nothing says “Erin go Bragh” like these Irish treats! Check out this website for some ideas; there’s mint chocolate Guinness brownies, boozy shamrock milkshakes, Irish cupcake pops and corned beef and cabbage mini-sliders. All perfect food choices if you’re looking to host your own St. Paddy’s Day party in your Rivington apartment.

Invite your neighbors over this March 17th and play a few games. Try out your luck with Irish-themed Bingo. Create your own St. Patrick’s Day Pictionary with Irish themed clues written on small shamrocks or play St. Patrick’s Day Trivia. Make it interesting with a Green Beverage Contest, by seeing who can make the best green cocktail. All the losers have to drink up, of course (maybe the winners too!)
