15 April, 2016

Vegan dieting is a trend many people have been taking up lately. Not only is this diet healthful for you, vegan dieting also incorporates a green and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Here are a bunch of delicious vegan friendly restaurants in Hoboken– most conveniently close by to The Rivington. They are all perfect places to try for our Bozzuto #BeTheGreen challenge this month!

Honey Grow: Just a quick 7 minute drive for our residents at The Rivington, this is a highly-praised new eatery in Hoboken. Their ingredients consist of organic based products and all produce is purchased from local New York and New Jersey markets and farms if available. Items on their menu are not all vegan friendly, but you can modify and menu option to meet your needs in addition to the items specified vegan that are included on the menu. Some of their vegan options include Red Coconut Curry Stir Fry with rice noodles, organic roasted spicy tofu, pineapples, jalapeños, bean sprouts, scallions, cilantro and Roasted Tomato Miso Kale Salad with roasted tomato miso dressing, green kale, organic roasted spicy tofu, apples, carrots, roasted beets, red onions, radishes, and sesame sticks. Their sauces are all homemade, and many of them are vegan. Take a look at their website for the full menu and Facebook page for more information.

M&M: Matt and Meera’s is just five minutes away from The Rivington! Vegan menu items include the Vegan Burger with housemade minced seasonal vegetable patty, lettuce, tomatoes & onion on a soft roll and Chana Masala with slow cooked chick peas with tomatoes, onion & herbs as well as other options. You can find all options on the website and note Vegan options are denoted with a “VG” symbol and vegetarian options labeled “V”.

Tony Boloney’s: Down the road from The Rivington, residents have at their disposal some of the best vegan pizza around! What is great about this top pizza joint is they serve pizza with no dietary restrictions as well as specialty vegan menu so residents can go with any mixed group of friends no matter their dietary needs! Their vegan pizza specialties include King Pizza featuring moroccan roasted cauliflower, red quinoa, lemon tahini hummus, golden raisins & a harissa chimichurri, and other options as well!
Bwe Kafe: This may not be a restaurant but this earth conscious coffee house is eco friendly and offers some vegan treats–including delicious chocolate chip cookies! What is also great about this local spot is a portion of all proceeds go towards helping the recovery efforts in Hati from the Earthquake in 2010.
