Every Rivington resident has seen at least one episode of Cake Boss, where ‘Buddy’ Valastro manages the Hoboken bakery alongside his exuberant family. You may have seen the TLC show and wondered just how they are able to make their cakes so beautiful – except now, you can do it yourself.
At the bakery’s Jersey City location, which is about a mile and a half from your Rivington apartment, 16 cake decorating classes are planned for November spanning from easy to moderate levels during the mornings, afternoons and evenings.
On Nov. 20, you can catch the fall fondant leaf cake class, which runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for $125. Cake decorators will show visitors how they can roll their own fondant and create the perfect leaves to embellish their cake with. Decorators will be available for assistance at every step and will hold a question and answer session following the demonstration.
On Thanksgiving Day, you can learn how to make your own Thanksgiving cake – a vanilla and chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling and edible sugar decorations – to bring to dinner from 12 p.m. to 2p.m., a class which costs $125. Here, you’ll get a behind the scenes look on what goes on at the bakery and you will learn how to create the perfect ‘trimmings’ for your cake.
If neither of these classes sound mouthwatering to you, check carlosbakery.com to see what other fun fall-themed classes are coming to the bakery.
